He For She Crusaders Liberia (HEFOSEL)
HEFOSEL is a national, male‑led, non‑governmental, non‑political and non‑profit organization established in November 2017 and accredited by the Government of Liberia through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in July 2018. We exist to mobilize men and boys as allies for women's and girls' rights, end FGM and harmful practices, and promote justice and dignity for all.
Our Vision
A Liberia free from marginalization, harmful practices and all forms of violence, where women, girls and marginalized groups enjoy their human rights to life, justice, political participation & representation and dignity.
Our Mission
To mentor men and boys into positive masculinity, promote gender equality and social justice, provide capacity skills for women and girls in Village Savings and Loan to end violence and advocate for the eradication of harmful practices—including FGM and child marriage—so that women and girls can live and lead free from violence and discrimination.

HEFOSEL operates through county chapters coordinated by local leaders and volunteers in:

Across these counties we work with men and boys, women's groups, traditional leaders, youth networks, schools, workplaces and faith institutions to shift social norms and strengthen accountability.

Tamba Forkpah Jedidiah Johnson
Founder & National Coordinator, HEFOSEL
Tamba is a Liberian educator, human rights defender and gender advocate with more than 25 years of experience in teaching, civic leadership and movement‑building.
- Former Chair of the Civil Society National Reference Group (CS‑NRG) and Co‑Chair of the EU–UN Spotlight Initiative Steering Committee in Liberia.
- Lead civil society representative monitoring more than USD 30 million in Spotlight programming across five counties.
- Mentor and trainer on positive masculinity with over 5,000 men and boys reached.
- Advocate for MenEngage Africa on FGM, harmful practices and male engagement.
Tamba holds a Master of Philosophy in Education (Administration and Supervision) and advanced certificates in human rights, gender, advocacy and peacebuilding.
Board & Management
HEFOSEL is governed by a five‑member Board of Advisors, which serves as the highest decision‑making body. The National Coordinator acts as Secretary to the Board and leads the national secretariat.
